ngl this reads like a straight woman wrote it. I can't find any evidence the author is bi or lesbian and you can tell she has never had a real romance with a woman. or if she has she can't write well about it.

if you run out of plot devices to move your story have someone either cheat or get sexually assaulted. a truly great author can incorporate both. /s

a little acknowledged trope of the genre is everyone must be cheating on everyone else.

i pray this isn't one of those thrillers where the main girl unknowingly sleeps with the villain or some shit I hate that fucking trope

the author lacks subtlety or nuance. there are ways to get your point across without making the "baddies" into scooby doo over the top villains. she really beats you over the head with what she's trying to do, it reads like it was written for YA audiences who struggle with reading comprehension.

the author uses an astounding amount of modern parlance and expectations for a biography of someone in the early 1900s. Interesting so far but very poorly written in that regard.
