Really blimming enjoying this, for more reasons than I thought!! Getting to know Serj and SoaD a bit more is, of course, a big element of interest, however, I'm also really enjoying learning about Armenian history as well as Serj's takes on politics - modern and historically.

I'm becoming more disturbed, but still can't quite see how the story is going to climax and resolve... There's an awful lot of philosophising that I can't quite relate to the story and that I feel is more Wilde's exploration of those topics - interesting! But breaks the flow a tad.

Dorian is an odd character... I cannot tell if he is good or bad... Naive is probably best to describe him...?

A curious start to the story, and although I feel things are going downhill, I cannot yet quite grasp how Dorian's curiosity and fascination with Lord Henry's philosophy is going to morph into something bad... I feel sorry for Basil :/

I've been reading this slowly since August 2024, and it's been lovely to come back to! I've found that recently I've been enjoying the short-story format a bit more than other things and so have read about half the book in the past month. I have two stories to go, and am sure I'll enjoy them just as much as the others...!

I'm more uncomfortable with the main character than the cannabilism at this point.. somehow treating the woman as stock but also a person at once? Idk... There's something off with this man

Jk I have to do another update. Why the sudden change from depressed and aware of how wrong things are to what I consider to be rape (no vocal and enthusiastic consent, very forcible)? It seems so out of the blue? I struggle to see how it fits into the story which is why I wonder if author was adding it in a gratuitous sense. I am hoping for its relevance further on. Otherwise I am enjoying seeing where it's going :)

I really don't know how to feel?? Having a morally grey main character really means it's hard for me to decipher what is an observation and commentary on how humans can behave, and what is the author's own preference. I love the world building - it's horrifying, but I don't know how to feel about main's decisions (more in comments)

It's intriguing so far, but there are a few too many plot-line jumps I'd say. I can't tell if it's supposed to be confusing or it's confusing as a result of trying to give more backstory... I can feel it coming together though!
