So he doesn’t seem to be able to string 3 words together to talk to his niece whose life is relatively normal, but he’s great with talking the FMC while she’s deeply grieving? I think the pretense just doesn’t make much sense to me.

Also where is this lady’s stranger danger? Sleeping on the ferry/train, staying in the apartment of a practical stranger (does he have a spare key?)

We’re mighty far into this book for me not to care about the MMC at all. I think Freddie has had more page time / dialogue with FMC. I’m even open to Clive at this point.

The narrator sounds like a vampire sometimes and it weirds me out
