A book that everyone who pledged to do better in June 2020 should read. Essential reading. Same with The Warmth of Other Suns.

Just started this book and I'm totally drawn in. It's so mesmerizing and thoughtful.

I know why people love this book. I get it. But for me it's reminding me of all the shame I experienced growing up within the church. I wasn't expecting to feel triggered by this book.

I am clearly reading this book because I hate myself. She methodically pretends like she had no idea of Trumps racism until the Billy Bush tapes??? Girl bye. She criticizes Hillary Clinton for not taking Bill to task over his cheating but praises Melania for the exact same thing. Ooooookay.

This is the first Meg Wolitzer book I've really enjoyed. I don't like her characters though. Their flaws are too obvious. Their selfishness too visceral.

Man this character is a real asshole.

Okay so I have to say the whole "stop making fun of the rich" thing is really bugging me. Let poor people have something. Poor people can't be snobby. That's ridiculous. Snobbery is based off the haves judging the havenots.
