How can the Japanese people, who seem so kind now, have been so awful back then? All the books I’ve read so far that mention Japan always portray it as the villain, and the Japanese as monsters committing massacres... It’s true that I don’t fully trust history, but I feel it’s impossible for all these countries to have the same opinion about Japan unless there was some truth to it 🤔

Going into this book blind. I don’t know what it’s about, but one of my fav uni professors asked me to read it and insisted. So now I’m finally going to find out why.
