I don't know why Lauren is stupid enough to believe Bankole about the land... it's embarrassing kind of. Probably because she's still a child. She seemed smarter than that to me until now. Earthseed really is making her lose it, and I know how it feels to hold onto your weird beliefs you came up with over everything because there's nothing else to live for. Yes, yes I know. just finished chapter 26 and oh my GODDDD. finding the jewelry box in the closet is SO CORNY. i'm beside myself with this one. i called it from the milisecond chloe's fiance was introduced, OR it'll be a double twist and it's hers. this shit is so corny and i'm just forcing myself to read all the books i own to read more. will probably give this one away to the neighborhood library box.

Since we finally seemed to get over him saying EVERYTHING was "winking", I'd now like to complain that I'm also extremely tired of hearing "fast-twitch muscle". HOW does he get SO elaborate and verbose when it comes to animal torture but when describing the boys, he has about 5 adjectives. He also can't decide if Shelley looks like a cow or a wolf, apparently. It gets really interesting and then he just shits on it.

The killing the turtle was also toomuch. It makes way more sense to elaborate on due to the context VS how long the cat flashback scene went on, but it still went on too long and was egregious to the point of making me even further just fully believe this author is into animal torture. It gets to a point where it's obvious it's a fetish, like Tarantino and feet. Nick Cutter and animal torture.

Had to skip around half a chapter of animal gore porn on a kitten and this will severely decrease my rating regardless of if the ending is good or not. This mf Nick Cutter needs his hard drive checked immediately. Matter of fact, just go ahead and put him in the hole. It gets to a point where it's not horror anymore and it's just self indulging depravity.

Way too graphic depictions of animal abuse, idc. Didn't necessarily realize up until this point that this might be considered splatterpunk or adjacent. The opening to chapter 27. I knew it. Not hard to tell. It was obvious it was gonna take this route. I just wonder how this will affect the ending. I'm intrigued to see if this open secret (to the reader) goes in a overly tropey way or in a genuine twist way. I WANT this book to give me a good gasp. It's certainly grossed me out!

I'm getting so tired of Chloe's bullshit. this is NOT the type of book i'd normally read. God of the Woods wasn't either, but i felt like i found an emerald in the rough there. this one, i don't. i'm so tired of the constant hinting about "who i secretly am" and the C-PTSD is VERY relatable but her choices are SO insufferable. i lowkey cannot stand her.

i can't tell if the MC Chloe is referring to teenage girls as "attractive" because she herself ends up being a pedophile or because the author thinks it's morally sound to refer to kids as "attractive"
