Ugh this is so good.

So far this is a huge disappointment - not creepy, just forced weirdness. I find myself skimming a lot. There are some potentially interesting forays into the mother-child relationship but they stay at the surface level and don't really reach anything interesting.

I like the way Barrow writes and there are some intriguing ideas in here.

Still trying to slog through this without much luck.

Bit of a slog at this point. I was hoping for more time in medieval years, but alas. I don't like many of the characters much at all so it feels like it's dragging on quite a bit.

Wow. This is impressively good. I'd kind of given up on new fantasy for a couple of years; I know this isn't new, but it's new to me, and I like it.

Frankly this book is pretty awful.

Finally decided to just read it because I never manage to listen to the audiobook enough.

I stayed up too late reading this. I think I'm not supposed to like it because Hunger Games, but I do.
