If I remember correctly this books has a magic system. It’s not been introduced. I wonder if that will be a development at the end of the book or like midway through the series

I was looking through the book to see how many pages I had left. Turns out there’s a whole summary of planets and characters at the end of the book!!!!

This needs to be standard. Even if it’s not the plot like this made me so happy so that when I start the next one I can remember

Some notes so I don’t keep forgetting who characters are

Valka: scientist of those weird things- Hadrian may like
Pallino: poor guy fighting for life- wants to buy ship
Switch: former prostitute now fighting for life- wants to buy ship
Gilliam Vas: the really ugly priest

He got kicked off his planet by his dad for not fighting in a gladiator match and now must fight in them for 1 standard year to get off the planet he’s on. Wonder how long it will take for him to become the complete opposite of himself in the beginning of the book

If they stay in emesh for much longer I’m gonna get annoyed. It’s Kvothe and that city he was stuck in all over again

Literally the next chapter opened with “I know what it is they say of me, what they call me. The sun eater, Halfmortal, demon-tongued, regicidal, genocidal.”

So yea I’m going with a false Messiah type vibes

I’m getting Dune parallels: advanced civilization with bans on certain tech because of past issues. Energy shield belts. I also fear that uranium will be similar to spice.

Also idk why I feel like this is gonna be an unreliable narrator situation or false messiah type vibes

Met his mother names Lillian, she is a lesbian and married to his dad for political reasons. She’s like “centuries” old. Idk if that an exaggeration or she like ancient

Ok so what I know.
Hadrian Marlowe- Older, short, daddy issues. Nice
Crispin Marlowe- Tall, younger, son dad wanted. Mean
Alistair Marlowe- Dad. Lord of devils rest.
Gibson- Scholiast (scholar I think), trains Hadrian in everything?
Current planet: Delos
Problem: He’s not daddy’s favorite, too nice, another planet was raided by something/someone. Forgot the name of both

I get the feeling the main character is going to have short man syndrome. He mentioned how much taller other people are several times

I’ve been wanting to read this for a while so during my break from stormlight might as well play in the stars

I fear that I spent so long with this series, basically tandem reading with each book of the stormlight archives that the deaths of some of these characters are just not hitting as they should. Also while the writing style is perfect for this type of story, fast paced with little filler words, sometimes I forget who is stabbing who for a second

I forgot some of the stuff that was happening but I came back and they killing people so I’m happy

So I’ve been thinking for a minute Navani was going to bond the sibling. I may be wrong but I’m still hopeful. I don’t think, despite leading us to believe, that rlain is going to bond them. It’s just too obvious for that to be the case

How am I supposed to study with the end of this book lingering above my head 😥

Moash is just a piece of shit at this point and it is gonna be so satisfying when he dies. I hope he is stripped down from everything to nothing and then is killed I want to see him just burn

Knowing this is book 4/10, I fear he’s moving towards a world that looks hopeless and lost. Push our characters to the very edge of giving up before slowly coming back. At this point I think they’re gonna lose the stormlight. Leaving their god behind and moving forward not with honor but with the will of men. We’ve seen how helpless they are with just limited light. What about none??
