Yeah bro the referentiality of language is literally just like commodity fetishism. Think about it bro. The neoliberal violence of the nominative predicate bro I swear. You thought bedtimes were oppressive? Have you considered dictionary definitions? It's just like 1984 bro if you think about it

"According to Harvey, ‘exchange-value’ is distinct from ‘value’:
1) use-value,
2) exchange-value (identical with price), and
3) value.

What Marx actually gives us is something diferent:
a) use-value (or utility);
b) exchange-value (value); and
c) price."

Big if true?

Wow, Cleaver pulls absolutely zero punches with regards to the reactionary (even counterrevolutionaryl elements of Marxism-Leninism. It's quite a forceful argument and more convincing than that of Dauvé. I love having my infantilism vindicated with solid readings of Marx. The (tempting) idea that Soviet style 'socialist accumulation' is the summum bonum of the struggle against capital remains extremely depressing.

I'm completely lost in the sauce of the value-form and it's relation to (abstract) labour and class struggle, reading autonomist accounts versus Harvey versus random critical sociology papers, and the more I read the more confused I become. Is value constituted in labour or 'retroactively' in exchange? And to what extent or in what sense are value and abstract labour historically determined by capital? Marx knows

The Grundrisse is a frustrating text, being the collation of jottings that it is. But if anything it shows the centrality of the analysis of value and labour to Marx's political project, as well as his hegelianism. I will have to return to it (and probably read the whole thing) after Capital. The difference in maturity of thought between Grundrisse and Capital is evident, but it reveals some of his thought process

Autonomism probably faces some of the same issues as any other 'ultraleft' currents. It's easy to point at China and the Soviet Union and ask the autonomist: what have you ever done? Harry Cleaver apparent analyzes the Zapatistas as autonomist working class action, but later in the book. I appreciate the focus on politics, and theory as a weapon of class struggle. Ironically Harry Cleaver held tenure. Let him cook

"The production of the relation of the reproduction of historical relation of production relates and produces precisely this relation of production to production which it reproduces as such in the form of a relation of production relating itself to itself as a reproductive relation of production. Historically speaking."
