Wow… I feel like this book genuinely makes me want to focus not skipping ahead

Maybe because it’s a different time period and writing style than what I’m used to that has this sense of intrigue inside me

I feel like I’m going to learn pretty soon not to doubt it too (or quash any remaining doubts I had about the book)

I like this as it eases you to the idea there should be another book as there’s unfinished plot over oh we need another book quickly scratch the plot of this book and continue in the next

I usually hate a chaotic fast paced almost “let’s finish the book” type ending which I assume this book headed towards but with who the characters are especially seraphine it just makes so much sense which makes me a fan for the aforementioned

(Now that I’ve got my reaction of a insane plot twist I don’t expect out of the way, Ransom & sera are written in a too cringe way for me and why do they have a telepathic like “chemistry “ I get trauma makes bonding quicker but jeez dude this is too quick!)

Well serving enough chapters I read today but I feel like this book’s ending might fall flat… which has been a recurring theme for me so maybe I’m impossible to please 😅

Not much really pretty filler chapters today I guess I’m guessing it’s small adjustments to land into this really big collision of plot in the upcoming pages

I can’t wait to see how all this unravels

I love when there’s a plot twist in the plot that isn’t really a twist but adds such a big layer to the story

Chapter 28 might’ve just saved this book from being a 3/3.5

I’m now very excited to read the remaining of the book

Major book slump causing a big gap… it was laziness but I’m going to blame the book not being exciting enough to bring me out of my laziness
But… honestly I feel like the book misses on I don’t know emotional landing and understanding
Like on pg 270, sera shouldn’t be commanding on what to do it should’ve been Bibi & ransom n sera feel too romantic too fast

Mushy scenes but not cringy

I liked the flirting scene between ransom and Seraphine it felt annoying enough to feel cute but not cringy and forceful and felt like it’s needed to continue the trope of enemies to lovers so you can see there’s visible chemistry and isn’t just made up out of no where

Had a bit of a reading slump and didn’t read but these 19 minutes and 12 seconds have been re energising!
Every time I pick this book up it’s super fun to read except the cringe ransom parts
I hate lorenzo and I hope random double choke head spin turtle neck chest spasm kills him

Every time I pick this book up instantly I’m in the groove even in parts where I’ve felt in books scenes like emotions of love interests feel “manufactured” this book does it in a way it does feel like it a bit but only because I KNOW these two are the love interests

Also my sibling called in between and wasted like 8 minutes of my reading time 🙃🤩

Just got introduced to Lisette (All that bark and no teeth line girl) and I love this character I don’t really care for Theo

Ransom has some upside and funny lines but sometimes comes across as very very cringy especially in the mouthing the threat scene

I have a feeling sera and Ransom will be working together to find the monster or whatever

Parts of the book and I feel like this is going to be my favourite book I’ve read so far if done correctly And that’s crazy because my previous read before this (conform) was a 5 star emphasis on was because it might go down to a 4 star because of this book (I probably won’t because I hate presentism but technically it isn’t..?)

Love LOVE love LOVE this book its such a good page turner what I said about too many details I have fibbed! (not really its changed now its less details) this book is perfect im currently at the part where "ransom" is stabbed AND I LOVE THIS BOOK SO much I hate that I have to sleep because I want to continue reading for 3 rereads and 3 days straight!!!

Don’t like how there’s too many details draws out scenes at times
Love how I’m finding new words almost every page!

I love the characters (ransom lark Nadia for the daggers and bibi val and sera with the Cloaks )

And this mysterious “monster” who killed this pascal loren dude
If I had attention span I would read long hours

I love the idea of this kind of being the two families at war enemies to lovers story (I think it is going to be at least since “ransom’s” introduction into the story and he got his own chapter)

Very excited to see how the story divulges with the mystery of sera’s mom and her being a cloak now and I love Val and bibi! I don’t like pippen or Theo though!!

I love books when they have like a kind of intro like this book has a list of players type of thing and I LOVEEE maps it’s so good and informative

I loved the map of The book conform so much and ugh that book man I need a part 2 ASAP

Anyways I’ve picked up this book(Dagger & the flame) very quickly which is unusual for me

I love Lo I mean she’s such a realistic character of how people think and would suffer oppression even if it’s “better” opportunities

I like Nora and finding out her true motives but again I feel like because of the motive she will betray any uprising against the evil cause

I love that Hal & emeline got to see & really be with eachother & the underground isn’t what I expected… I’m a bit hurt the book is going through generic big powerful guy = evil and tiny man with no power = good guy
I love Hal But I was hoping colin was good now I’m saddened,ALSO FREE LO from the kind of evil shackles of Greg?
Excited for the ending!!

I feel like this has been the best book I’ve read so far
It feels like it follows all the regular tropes but does it really well with nuance to make it feel different

I love emeline’s now recent development I cannot wait to delve into her apology to Hal after the execution she witnessed and her underworld arc! Also love Gregory’s arc change

chapter 16 & 17 felt so moving

The slight expansion into Lo’s background to show she isn’t just a Side character but more than that to Alice’s testimonial during her final days to ch 17 “breakup”w Hal the “Reaper”
