With the last Unselected Journal waiting to be read and needing to be savored deliberately and after having yet another person rave about this series to me over the weekend...I have returned, armed and ready for the journey and boy am I locked in. I forgot how absolutely fantastic the writing is. Also I don't think I'll ever hear Eo's name and not wanna cry. I've accepted this fact.

Wow. Another fav. So incredible and practical and rich and oh my goodness gracious I LOVE it. I particularly love this chapter on mediation. Very balancing and also encouraging. Incredible insights. Love love love.

This book is starting to blow my mind. I literally got chills. Maybe this isn't new news but he talks about how when you break down the Hebrew in Genesis 3, when God makes woman, the descriptive words change and Adam literally BECOMES MALE at the creation of Eve. Sorry that just blew my mind. So in that moment God wasn't just creating Eve He was creating male and female!! 🤯 I want to keep ranting but I won't.

This book is about as dense as a gramma's fruitcake. Good. Rich. But, a lot.

Wrestling with this idea of forbidding symbolic representations of God...I think it's extreme to say we can't imagine God as our father or shepherd or caretaker simply because that doesn't include all His attributes...umph...

Like drinking a warm cup of my favorite tea in my favorite chair. His tender, authentic, and pastoral comments on baptism and communion warms my heart. I don't know what I'm going to do when this book ends.

I wish someone would have warned me. I'm not exactly sure what I would have wanted them to warn me of but I simply was not prepared for this book. There is absolutely no way I can stop reading now... it makes my heart ache and I can't seem to know if it's from sadness or joy. Perhaps this is too vulnerable for a Goodreads entry but here we are.

This is getting to be a hot mess of ideas lol I really desperately hope he gives some pastoral direction and encouragement. Getting a lil anxious ngl. But we got this 😤✊

This book is changing my life lol I don't necessarily agree with all of Gavins conclusions but I am learning so much and I think the way he comes to his conclusions is really the biggest point of the book. Obsessed. But then we already knew I loved Augustine so this shouldnt be a surprise.🤭

Quickly realized it was a collection of works. Still love the weight of glory of all of them.

ugh that's it...I'm done. The characters haven't developed at all...this probably makes for a fun movie but not for 16hrs of an audiobook...

okay fine the suspended disbelief has to be...well very suspended...and the characters are lacking in depth...it's now on 1.3x speed...

Augustine's doctrine of creation is so fascinating. Love how he approaches topics. He lost me for a bit with the whole discussion of time 😵 but we're so back. Finishing strong ✊

Okay this book is definitely for sci-fi nerds...apparently that's me. This is gonna be one of those books that will cause me to have to remind myself to eat and sleep. I've been sucked in and there's no going back.
