I can see why people rate this book less stars on account of the writing and pacing for this book; and yet, I find it devastatingly authentic.
Hemingway was a WWI veteran; the fast pacing, long winded descriptions, and the lack of emotional numbness of the MC all reflect his trauma. With every word I can feel him trying to recall his own memories. Hemingways fractured writing style is, and of itself, the story,
