i’m reading this because i’m tutoring a hs student on it! i’ve actually always been interested in this series during junior high but i chose to read the uglies series as my free read in eighth grade lolll. it goes by quickly (YA fiction writing style) and the concept of the plot is v interesting && honestly really sad

i DESPISE collins like UGHHHH GTFO he is so much worse in this adaptation than the original

yes yes another book started without finishing my other read BUT i’m really digging this book. the language obviously imitates austen’s, but it still has a contemporary vibe- it’s lowkey giving YA fiction writing style

i am now starting to understand a bit more of what’s going on and i dig it!

the dialogue of the men, especially that of mr. pontellier and doctor mandelet, in this story is comically preposterous chopin is so witty

hehe i remember liking kate chopin’s short stories in hs so im finally taking the liberty to read this bigger tale

i’m reading this for my english class and it’s honestly really interesting!! way less intimidating than i presumed, and it def helps to talk about it with my professor and peers

still can’t get over ishmael and queequeg LOL

very intriguing~ i like the mix of free indirect discourse(?) and dialogue from the police reports! i can see what people mean when saying that frederik backman has a talent for weaving different people into each other’s lives

yesyes i started another book without finishing others LOL but ive been going through this one fast because its language is so modern and easy to understand it’s kind of crazy how reading more so modern books vs classics can impact your speed solely due to the differences in writing, terminology, whatnot

so unexpectedly silly LOL the beginning sentence is smart and stays iconic, and i like the parallels so far with the original p&p!!

SO EXCITED TO READ THIS (i want to watch the move afterwards)

omg. i like how this book makes me think!! some of the language used made me jolt because it’s outdated but the book was published in 1959 (whattt) so that makes sense. i really like how it’s written though- very interesting to see the changes that charlie goes through CANT WAIT TO FINISH EEK
