unbelievable how unrelatable the philosophical works followed by this book now are. actually, i’m quite happy they are far removed from reality. it was indeed a Zeit der Zauberer, pretense and all. what is a magician without his tricks? that’s how I view the people Eilenberger chose to follow.

this is what The Shape of Water by Guillermo del Toro couldn’t do

author clearly is not interested in the plot, characters or romance. there is no pining, no epiphany, no breaking points. fmc was like “ooh this guy’s sexy and his voice is sultry, wonder what his penis feels like” ON THE FIRST PAGE
they kiss ON THE SECOND PAGE
like??? this feels like a filler episode with poorly written fan service
