I just can’t. I couldn’t like any of the characters, and every time I thought I was getting drawn into the story I was flooded with descriptions of pain - either Inquisitor Glokta’s unrelenting physical pain or the horrible torture he oversaw, including tooth torture! Agh. Shades of the Marathon Man there. I just couldn’t.

This is turning out to be more of a YA story than I realized, especially given the way it started. I nearly finished the first book, but it had become such a chore and I was so tired of the two main characters' juvenile behavior, I just couldn't finish. Life is too short.

Put aside at 11%. This book, at first, really captured my imagination with its rich writing, however as the story unfolded it seemed to me that it became...ordinary. I'm undecided whether or not I'll give it another chance and attempt to finish it.

Almost at the 300 page mark and still not hooked. Starting to contemplate breaking up with this author...

Library loaner; let it go before finishing. The few stories I read were good, just didn't hold my attention.

Wow! On top of a great read, I now have an awesome playlist! This story comes with a soundtrack...I mean, not literally, but if you do what I did and load your iPod up with the songs mentioned within this wild and crazy adventure, you'll have the ultimate in primo music to go with a really fun and layered story. Can't recommend this trilogy enough!
