Well, I will say that I definitely needed to read this right now. It’s helping me realise that I may not be hopeless after all.

Read the first chapter just to recap and start this mammoth. Will be making more of an indent tomorrow when I can give it my full attention!

Eilien is pissing me off. Both of the girls characters are written well but eilien is annoying me. Why tell somebody one thing when you obviously mean the other just so you can’t then later complain that you don’t have the very thing you just said no to!! My GOD!!! Other than that, Rooney’s writing is amazing!

Somehow I think the book has slowed down a little. I am still intrigued by the two relationships and the line between friendship and romance. I still love how Rooney sets her scenes, and presents intimacy in her writing.

Honestly, I forgot how amazing Sally Rooney’s writing is! I can’t put the book down. The relationships she creates between her characters and the raw reality of their lives presented in her writing is incredible. I can’t wait to keep reading on!

This book isn’t something I’d normally read but it certainly is making me question things and think critically.

After the first two chapters I began to get used to the writing style. Although the story is getting interesting, the way that women are written about is kind of annoying. I realise this is due to the year in which it was written but it is a little uncomfortable sometimes that this is how most men viewed/view women… but I’m trying to keep my mind to the story.

Not used to the dated language so may need to reread once I’m finished but it has an eerie sense to it already. Loved the film so thought I’d try the book

The battle is about to start…

I always regret reading reviews of books, I think there is too much of a split between the people who over praise this and who hate on it just because others like it. I am really enjoying it so far, especially as a first time fantasy reader. It’s easy to follow, the language isn’t difficult to understand and the characters are interesting. So I don’t understand the hate.

Lady Shan is an ick. I am loving the development though, characters are just so good!

Gotten to part 3 and this book is intense!! Loving it

The world building in this is amazing. Along with the strength of the characters. I have just finished part one and I have to say it’s probably the best book I have read so far. I can’t get enough of it!

The prologue has set this story up nicely. Excited to follow the uprising of the skaa and learn more about this fantastical empire.

Again learning more and more about Area X and the secrets that are hidden within it. Honestly wish I had the time to just sit and read the whole book, it’s really hard to put down

I haven’t picked up a book in a while that has actively kept me so engrossed with the story. We have no idea what’s going on but the subtle hints to a overall sinister plan mixed with the intricate biological scene descriptions just makes me struggle to put it down but alas, sleep is a necessity

So very near the end and it’s looking like the ending may be promising

Um, well things definitely changed quickly 😅
