Valen’s naïveté about court and life in general is irritating. Also, this is supposed to be YA but the amount of drinking and womanizing engaged in and talked about by one of the main character’s is ridiculous even if this were an adult book.

Valen’s guilt and naïveté about court and life in general is irritating.

I found the beginning of this book on the boring side, even with my fascination for beekeeping, with only the high Goodreads score and the recommendations of others keeping me going. The setting and characters did become more interesting as the book went on - at first. The lack of details and any answer to any question that arose in my mind left me feeling frustrated however, though the author soon left me horrified.

Amazing. Implausible. So much freaking fun.
