idk, it is kind of boring, the whole premise i mean. we have ANOTHER murders and they are explained so early into the book, then there is some action and then we deal with the bad guy in one page and what is the rest of the book? All Earstripe related?
I must say I find this romance the easiest to digest, but i think it is only because we don't oogle women's boobs all the time, otherwise it is just as badly written.

So far I don't hate it. It is cringe and yes the romance is OUT THERE instantly but I kind of dig this for what this is. Galen is cool so far, not a dick and Piper is also alright. God please let this book stay this way.

i hate this. their actions have no consequences and make no sense. and i hate how sex oriented this book is and their intense desire does not make sense at all for these characters especially. I JUST WANTED SOME PALADIN ROMANCE AND I GOT FUCKING HORNY DIARIES...WHY DO I SUBJECT MYSELF TO THIS???

And the conversation is there only so our love interest can finally start properly fantasizing about WOMAN HE IS ALMOST IN LOVE WITH AFTER JUST TWO DAYS OF KNOWING HER and BE JELAOUS OF HIS GAY FRIEND WHO IS TALKING TO HER?
I will finish this ONLY out of SPITE.

What do we know:
a) she has boobs
b) he smells like gingerbread
c) the only thing i know about grace is that she smells things, does perfumes and has trauma (the only thing why this romacr could work)
d) stephen is just horny bro and knits socks lol
e) the pacing is weird
f) i just feel so smart just because all of them are just fucking stupid

You are on a thin ice book, don' t make me hate you. I already knew the romance is not going to be for me (this time it makes much less sense than in her other books because the characters are not awkward or lacking people around them or love) but this on page 54? i refuse this, i hate it. It reads like cheap romantasy and the plot is not even that interesting to make me forget this.

I have Paladin's Grace flashbacks and now I remember a bit better why I did not like that book lol. I am so uncomfortable with Sarkis and his inner monologue, it is so icky and ew and i want him to just stfu....
but I have to say (ashamed as i am, yes) that I do love the "touch her and die" trope...

I forgot how much Kingfisher loves boobs. It is almost like i am trapped in a male gaze and not even the guy feeling guilty for objectifying women in his head is making me comfortable reading about him thinking about her boobs every page. I need to constantly tell myself that he has not been around women for centuries and she (in a way) around men, so it makes sense that they are acting like horny lovestruck teens!

Yo I kinda love this what the hell? I giggle and kick my feet? The romance in the sense of them being attracted to each other is not that compelling to me and it is sometimes a bit ewew, but their dynamic is fun, the story is interesting so far and I actually often find the dialogues funny. I just hope it will remain this way and not flop near the end. 🤞

It's so boring, and I keep getting the feeling that this book is meant for people who don't pay attention. Because everything is explained three times and presented in the simplest way possible. The plot is just boring. There’s nothing in it to keep us on the edge of our seats, and the characters aren’t interesting. As always, I’m disappointed in T. Kingfisher. Great premise, poor execution.

I am no stranger to romantasy or someone to yuck someone else's yum. I’ve read "bad" books that i loved, and you will never catch me making fun of people who enjoy these types of stories - tough i do have thoughts about booktok, and they aren't exactly nice. But this book is objectively bad and i hate it with my entire soul. Still, my mom didn't raise a quitter and i am pushing through this for my bookclub besties.
