For the first time in forever I have some one else who says Kentucky Fried Chicken instead of KFC ♥️ I could not love Ellen any more

Not sure the characters are believable, I can’t imagine any Cornish person feeding a seagull on purpose

Trigger warning child abuse and trauma from a religious institution.

So far, love the atmosphere, love the characters and the narrator is so good I’d probably happily listen to her read a shopping list. I do have a soft spot for a book with a crow. 🐦‍⬛ oracle sticks are a nice addition.

Such a cozy book, I was a bit worried about the peril that is implied. I read ahead and I think I can cope. Definitely a just before bed relaxation read.

Still loving it. Really complex relationships

I really dislike the word “fingered” and this is used twice, so far, in this book. 🤢🤮 If I was harsh I’d remove 1⭐️just for that!

Maybe it’s because of having a large family but I’m having no problem with the different people and names .

Continuing to improve, less descriptive scenes added and Maddie gets angry. Still love the Grandmother but still identify more with her…

Liking the main character and the setting

Actually one it gets going it’s good. I like the Grandmother more than Maddie but probably that’s due to my age!

Ellen’s young awareness of racism is very sad.

I’m loving the unfiltered energy. It’s not a perfect family or a perfect dying person. It feels so real, like I am in the same room. Currently reminding me of Elizabeth Strout. I’m annoyed it took so long to read it now!

I’m on page one, I was worried because the book was suggested not one I chose. I’m happy already and laughing. This is a good sign especially as the main character is already on her death bed.

Exciting, difficult to put down. Different accents feel funny but help identify different people with easy.
Although part of a series, I’ve not read the other books, there is no problem starting with this book.

I have just started it and can’t put it down. I don’t know any of the characters, unlike her other books and yet they are so familiar. I know no other author you writes like this and pulls me in so quickly. I want to inhale the book.
