It wasn’t up until this point that I wished I read the book before watching the show. I like both adaptations, but the way the first twist unravels is so much better on the page versus on film. The differences in which it plays out and how Camille is really thinking and feeling about it (i.e. much more in depth in the book) are really interesting. I love being inside her head.

Just finished the hbo show adaptation two days ago so I can read the book in Camille’s Missourian accent

I’m peeta and katniss’s dynamic makes a lot more sense to me in terms of context after reading (so far) as opposed to the movie; it made sense in the movie but i can really know what katniss is thinking and her innermost thoughts

Reading so many parts that weren’t in the movie (at least I’m pretty sure need to rewatch over finishing lowkey)

Crazy learning in depth how the inception of pro-birth control was a means to implore eugenics, which lead to sterilization of Black and other POC women (and some men), while whites women were encouraged to have babies. And it got to the point of white women fussing about wanting abortions but being denied because god forbid white women can’t reproduce. I’m so sick. FUCK MARGARET SANGER

Finding out how the myth of the black rapist was born from reconstructing a new reason to mercilessly murder black men was interesting to say the least, as well as the parallel to the black male rapist and the promiscuous black female.
