Why do I find this novel so boring? I keep wanting to focus on the plot instead of elaborate scenes or ordinary life. It seems that the plot or meaning of this story is the poetic description of vignettes of ordinary life in a South American colonial city.

Trying this again with an audiobook. Last time I got to page 70 or 90. I found it too slow. Exposition too long.

I didn’t enjoy the voices of Pearl Morton and Jack; I didn’t find them believable either. Cora Philips was better. I enjoy the pictures and formatting of the book.

The narrator’s voice doesn’t feel believable, but what do I know about a Californian prostitute’s voice in the 1870’s.

Margaret Fuller = Mother. Would love to hear more about the actual historical events. Fuller is indeed bold and daring. I loved seeing how she became bold and daring. She didn’t just come out swinging, but she evolved.

It’s giving Tortured Poets Department. Young, bold, lonely, female writer spends a fortnight with a man she can share in the poetry of his soul. It seems Margaret understands Waldo better than his wife. “Fortnight”. “Tortured Poets Department.” I feel this is the kind of book Taylor would read.

I wonder if My Chemical Romance’s The Black Parade was inspired my New Orleans voodol, funeral dirges and parades, and seven passages

This book is so inferior to the first two in the series. The plot and characters are lack luster. What’s the point of the story? There’s no good plot challenging our leads. I think we are told who they are instead of shown. I find Fionn endearing because I’m told he is. On the other hand, in Book 2, the author showed us Lachlan’s sweet side in a believable way.

Interested in learning more about rituals and practices at Mount Osore where humans practice communion with the dead, especially their dead children. There are festivals yearly for mourners.
