April/May Book Club read…again I find myself pleasantly surprised. Most certainly a “simple” book and chock full of absurd baking puns, but I am enjoying it and happy to have encountered a few plot twists I never could’ve expected.

“But never in frog history had such an execution taken place.”

Now I don’t fancy myself anything special. I’m not a writer. But I daresay- Steinbeck writing as if a great understander of the frogs (“frogs have every right to expect it will always be done that way” “frogs don’t resent that”) feels very Hannah. If I wrote, I too would give voice to the expectations and feelings of frogs.

“And there’s nothing that spoils the taste of good, ordinary food half so much as the memory of bad, magic food.”

Banger quote. Can’t be just about food. Right? Am I out of my mind? Am I allowed to find meaning in all the tiny details of this book?? Irregardless it struck me and I love it. I love wholesome things Yahh good, ordinary! Boo bad magic!

“He stepped out of his boat and held out his hand to her. Long tanned fingers and open palm. She hesitated. Touching someone meant giving part of herself away. A piece she never got back.”

Oh how I love this book. How I love Kya and her wild innocence and love of the marsh.

“For what you see and hear depends a good deal on where you’re standing. It also depends on what sort of person you are.”

Man, the first two chapters had me underlining nearly every other sentence! I sense a 5 star rating on the horizonnnnn

Ngl I am 15% enjoying this and 85% forcing myself to read it so it’s off of my currently reading and TBR list. I hate to say it but it’s true.

Ha!!! Roasting earth and its inhabitants in the first minute??? I’m hooked.

Honestly not baaaad not baaaaad. Just a fun little fantasy moment

March book club read. Not a book I personally would choose to spend my time on (at least right now) and thus I am taking it as a practice in discipline to continue on with it and to stay engaged and maybe even find some enjoyment

Marcus Aurelius slept on the floor as a child (because stoic discipline duh). I slept on the floor last night (because my mom’s in town and she gets my bed duh) (oh and stoic discipline too- I am the most disciplined….and stoic….duh). Am I….better than everyone?!

(This is jokes and I feel like I shag to clarify that this is jokes because maybe I’m just bad at jokes)

I AM SO UPSET. THIS ACTUALLY ISN’T FUNNY. IM NOT MEANT TO BE CRYING AT 9AM ON A SATURDAY OVER AN ALIEN LIFE FORM. If you’ve read this I’m guessing you know what perturbs me so. You’re all horrible for not warning me of this heartbreak (even though I wouldn’t have wanted to have been given a warning in the first place).

Halfway! This book is amaze.

A baseline piece of knowledge for you all- I am not a smart science-y person. I am the type of person that adds “y” to the end of words for fun. They just referenced “neutrinos” and my non-science brain still doesn’t understand what a neutrino is BUT I did remember that it was discussed a few times in Young Sheldon. And I was ecstatic over that connection 😆

Man!! I am THOROUGHLY intrigued and enjoying this. It feels like saying “I love you” too soon but this has got to be a five star read.

Why is this book so funny- having a great time already
