Donna. It’s not clocking to you. Hating on trees is a major red flag.

Such a fan of these simple yet wonderful short Steinbeck’s. I think in an attempt to be great writers now over complicate things. (I say this in all humility acknowledging any book attempted/ succeeded in being written is a marvel)

Not a fan of some rather disgusting pictures being painted though. It shows Steinbecks talent with words that I’m seeing things so vividly…but…😵‍💫

Started last night

Scariest c-section story ever. Had to put the book down for a bit….

Page 10. A start…but I do need to finish this before the end of the week and I lead book club on said book. Gotta lock in.

I am suffocated by the tragedy and strange familiarity of it all- the collision of intense dreaming with reality. The temptation to rise above reality & ignore its flaws flirts with me as well. This doomed Gatsby but will it doom me? Can my aspirations & self-creation be real or are they only a fragile dream destined to shatter once I inevitably “taste the perishable breath?”

Not noteworthy but noting it I am— I was so excited to see the word “echolalia” used. A term learned years back in college and just a word that sounds a bit like what it is. Not onomatopoeia but simply a word thats pronunciation shares the flavor of its definition (in my mind at least)

I am enamored with the descriptive way Kingslover writes. And I am in love with this quote. I feel like I am going to be heartbroken in a few short hours when this book has reached its conclusion.

Not related to the book but does anyone actually enter the Goodreads giveaways? And more important has anyone actually won???

ABSOLUTELY NOT. ABSOLUTELY NOT. I can’t say specifically what is upsetting me so (seeing as how I can’t hide my comment for spoilers) but AGHHHHH. I need to not stop listening to audios while getting ready for church. I am riled.

Love love loving it.
Hate hate hating the abuse aspect. Blood boils, heart breaks, stupid stupid stupid abuse. Don’t be the person that looks the other way, doesn’t stand up even because “it’s hard” “not your place” “you’re not sure if it’s abuse”, etc. Point being- love and protect and help how best fitting for people in abusive situations. Especially for the kiddos. Very passionate on this.

Stayed up way too late because I was sucked into this story. Also there’s something about just laying in bed staring mindlessly up at a dark ceiling whilst listening to an audiobook. Goods vibes good vibes.

Not me starting another book after just lamenting my habit of starting new books before finishing previously started ones…🫣 in my defense this is my audio book not another hardcover book- It serves a different purpose and doesn’t take away from the time I would normally sit down with a hardcover book. Ifkyk

I am bound and determined to finish this book in the next three days. There’s no reason I can’t. I need to stop picking up new books that intrigue me (I have a nasty habit of starting multiple books at once because I get too excited and can’t wait to start them but then none of them get finished because I’m chipping away 5 at once). If you don’t see a “finished review” in the next four days call me out

Had a jolly chant with my landlord today about some LOTR things I wouldn’t know if I weren’t reading the books. I am starting to feel like I’m in the club, people!! Huzzah

One of the five books I got from the thrift today. I moved to SD almost one year ago now and since being here have collected over 35 books (mostly thrifted or gifted)…it is a problem but a problem I am okay with. How will I transport them back to AK? I suppose I shall go back to the thrift to buy a suitcase dedicated to books!

Oh, what I wouldn’t give for a joyous meal and peaceful nights rest at Tom Bombadil’s house. Merry dol! Ring a dong dillo!
