“Her laugh bubbled up like a glovebox popping open and candy spilling out. I said a bunch more ridiculous things just to watch that happen”
I am enamored with the descriptive way Kingslover writes. And I am in love with this quote. I feel like I am going to be heartbroken in a few short hours when this book has reached its conclusion.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. ABSOLUTELY NOT. I can’t say specifically what is upsetting me so (seeing as how I can’t hide my comment for spoilers) but AGHHHHH. I need to not stop listening to audios while getting ready for church. I am riled.

Love love loving it.
Hate hate hating the abuse aspect. Blood boils, heart breaks, stupid stupid stupid abuse. Don’t be the person that looks the other way, doesn’t stand up even because “it’s hard” “not your place” “you’re not sure if it’s abuse”, etc. Point being- love and protect and help how best fitting for people in abusive situations. Especially for the kiddos. Very passionate on this.

“I’ll never forget how that felt. Like not being hungry”
This was on what it feels like to be understood or have someone relate to you. “Like not being hungry.” 10/10 some people truly do magical things with words, capturing feelings that often you don’t even realize you have. Being understood is one of those in between moments we love but is rarely well described. And the description given is universally understood but also so specifically well fit for the character and his experiences. Sigh. Sometimes something is so good it makes you sad because it’s just going to end and you can’t spend eternity in/with it.
