A bit disappointed. It’s not nearly as entertaining as I’d hoped it to be, but there’s still 95% of it left so there’s time.

As with every Dickens novel I’ve read, this too is a slow burn. I expect to love it as much as the others I’ve read. I anticipate the raging fire he typically creates. He is not renowned for no reason, after all.

There are few sequels I’ve enjoyed as much as I am this one! Beth Brower is has me captivated!

It is a very interesting book, but the writing style for Benjy and trying to understand what decade each line is in is very exhausting. This book definitely needs to be prefaced with an explanation on the best way to read it, as it is very much not like other books and expectations should be very different according to its distinctness

I’ve never read any Ernest Hemingway, but let me just say, he is without a doubt no Dickens. The extreme run on sentences are already annoying. So far I’m not impressed, and I give it a one star only because I can’t go lower.

It started off slow, but it is so good!

The story is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.

It’s so sad how fear can drive people to such crazy extremes.

I find it fascinating and incredibly heartbreaking to learn about how a person’s mental illness can turn into abuse. A lot of the stories sound unbelievable. I’ve been privileged to have loving parents and siblings, so it’s hard for me to imagine the people one loves most doing such awful things to you, but I also know there is so much evil out there.

This book is already changing how I view parenting. If you’re a person of faith, especially Christianity, this book will help bring back effective parenting. While it can be taken to extremes, this becoming the opposite of Christianity, a lot of what is wrong in todays modern world could be fixed by applying the principles in the Bible, which this goes over.
