This is such a poorly done end to a series that started so strong

Did the author just completely repeat a scene that happened earlier in the book???? Did this book fucking have an editor?

the narrator is more annoying in this book I stg

“As you might recall” yes. I do recall. Because I’ve been reading the book. And it’s been said multiple times

There’s so much repeat of information in this one god damn

I stg if the plot of this book is “the village gossip, that I’ve said ‘is always wrong,’ is getting to me and I think my fiancé is falling out of love with me” and miscommunication ensues…

last book in the series let’s gooooo
the thing I was waiting to happen already happened in the last book but it seems silly to drop the series when I only have one book left

Wow! I love how inconsistent the characterization can be in this series!

“An artist, he was a confirmed bachelor” okay so I was right. Fritz the ferret is gay and he and Max are in gay love

Not the direct call out to me. Yes I can suspend my disbelief for talking animals but was not ready for you to introduce a fuckin dragon okay!!

At this point, I might as well finish the series

Max and Fritz are in gay love imo

man the amount of abuse the women in this family/community went through at the hands of men is awful

also the person at the library who has been one book ahead of me with these audiobooks has not checked out book 7. Doesn’t bode well for this one

Max the Manx cat is the only queer animal in this village (a freak) AND he’s emo. Diversity win

Yes I’m continuing this series even if the narrator is pissing me off

Beatrix would be able to clock AI from a mile away

Did…did this book just repeat an exact sentence that was said earlier in the book?? I’m listening to it on audiobook so it would be hard to go back and check but I’m fairly sure “[he said it] in the sort of humouring tone animals use when they’re talking to someone who has been recently ill and needs an extra bit of coddling” is a repeat sentence from an earlier chapter??

lmao this one is pissing me off

Why is the narrator talking to me like I’m a fool in this one

Oh no. Romani slur at the very beginning of this one. That doesn’t bode well

Sometimes you gotta reread the poetry collection that got you back into reading poetry

“The professor’s argument is worth quoting because it is so striking an illustration of the disingenuousness that bedevils the subject of art history” (108).

Damn, get his ass!!

“when he asked for your hand / in marriage / did he not want the rest of you / as I do?”

lesbian yearning is timeless

IT’S GAY!?

Found this at a book sale for like $1, and it turns out the copy I bought is signed, so that’s neat

I bought this secondhand and it smells like memories of visiting family in California

I haven’t decided if I like the poetry yet
