Huge vibe shift with those last two chapters, I was not prepared

This book could more accurately be titled "The Vanderbeekers vs. The New York City Government" or "The Vanderbeekers and a Lesson In Stupid Laws"

The fact that the kids half-painted the living room the most obnoxious pink color in the middle of the night and got it on the furniture and floor, and yet nobody was grounded or even yelled at, makes me wonder what worse things these kids have done before that desensitized their parents
