I forgot how much I love Shallan. One of my top female literary characters.

Toxic vampire brooding bad boys are not hot. Sad little men with seasonal depression who need a shower and a bowl of soup are very hot.

Arghh I cannot escape the cult of domesticity, the angel in the home haunts me, somehow Christians keep coming back to telling girls that their feminine behavior will make men better and it is their job to lift men up and make them better men.

So the best version of a woman is an "arousing woman" who "calls forth the best in a man". She is defined by her relationship to men.

Once again we are telling women that they are responsible for men's behaviors. Women are supposed to "inspire" men so thar they want to do what is right and best.

And there it is. Once again poor theology leads to implicitly or explicitly encouraging women to stay in abusive relationships in the hopes that their femininity will cause the man to change.
