Arghh I cannot escape the cult of domesticity, the angel in the home haunts me, somehow Christians keep coming back to telling girls that their feminine behavior will make men better and it is their job to lift men up and make them better men.

So the best version of a woman is an "arousing woman" who "calls forth the best in a man". She is defined by her relationship to men.

And there it is. Once again poor theology leads to implicitly or explicitly encouraging women to stay in abusive relationships in the hopes that their femininity will cause the man to change.

So very uncomfortable with using secular love song lyrics and pretending they are God singing to women (or vice versa)

Meanwhile Jesus is literally comparing the woman to Simon to make Simon feel ashamed for not treating Jesus like this.

Wheeeee Jesus calls himself our Bridegroom, so it is a healthy and Biblical exercise for women to imagine they are Arwen standing on the moonlit bridge and Aragorn is Jesus.

Golly it's so annoying to be told over and over "Women feel this way. You know it's true." Or "We all know this about women."

Please stop quoting verses about Israel and pretending that the "she" refers to all women

POV: the authors say women are prone to be controlling and defensive, which goes against their feminine nature, but the biggest control freak you have ever met is your dad

Ah yes, and John Eldredge's experiences are indicative of the experiences and impulses of all men everywhere throughout time. No need to do any actual research, because John Eldredge is a man and thus knows what ALL men are like.
