Ok I now appreciate the smaller details the author established throughout the beginning of the book. Things make more sense and our protagonist even seems to have a heart— however, small. He has a new goal that aligns with an important revelation he made. I appreciate how the author structured the sequence of events as they didn’t feel like some cheap cop-out. The groundwork was laid prior and it felt earned.

I enjoy the way the author writes; he describes things with such sophistication, making it easy to picture things. The problem is the story’s rather slow pace and the protagonist’s lack of development. It feels like nothing of note has really happened yet which could be attributed to our protagonist’s static growth. Hopefully with the path the story heading, he gets some much needed development

Author has good sense of when to split the storytelling perspectives to build suspense but in a satisfying way. Characters are interesting with different motives that drive their actions. Character dialogue flows naturally. Settings are described well enough to imagine. So far, enjoying the story and can’t wait to read more!

The story kinda glossed over an important revelation that pertained to one of the characters and their whole story. Two characters were added to the band but they don’t really add much. I kinda of forgot they were even there, which isn’t a good sign to their relevance in the story. Besides that and the modern language used throughout the book, I’m enjoying this part of the story.
