this is probably my 8th time re-reading this series. i was absolutely obsessed with it for years but after reading much better fantasy, and fiction in general, i'm realizing how incredibly generic this book is. the critical reviews were lowkey right and i hate that

okay i gotta put this on hold. i don't know what it is but tmi is killing me. i was able to push thru the infernal devices within like a week, but for someone reason, tmi is constantly putting me in a reading slump. i WILL come back to this but ... i really don't enjoy this series

i applaud her creativity and batshit insanity but she should've killed them if she was just gonna get herself locked back up anyway. like what was the point of that scene?

it's a very generic YA story -- now that i'm re-reading, the similarities between both the hunger games (2008) and divergent (2011) are hard to look past. this book was released in 2015 so it's clear where she got her inspiration from but it’s almost too much

reading this again and gonna attempt to actually finish the series since i dnf'ed the 2nd book

there's really not much plot in these books. they could be easily cut in half if it didn't focus so much on the love triangle. or if they replaced a lot of it with more plot and action
