i don't agree that jon should cower away and allow the other boys to win just because they had a harder life/no previous training. what exactly does that teach them, or jon for that matter?

i find it interesting how the show, the first few episodes/first season anyway, takes direct lines and scenes from this book. literally verbatim. accurate adaptation up until the showrunners started saying fuck it and doing whatever

i just have to say, the art is so cutesy and definitely a product of its time lol

it's definitely your typical middle school fiction. young girl gets bullied by classmates, parents are divorced, she discovers she's special and makes other special friends. the prose is cut short and dry. the writing itself is nothing interesting, but i do love the character art! there's a lot of it, sort of like a graphic novel?

i read this as a child and while i don't think it'll hold up for adults, it did impact me greatly so i want to revisit it
