am i missing something? are quick and fast not synonymous? and yes i'm finally rereading this series after all these years. i never got through the third book so i'm trying again

i just have to say, the art is so cutesy and definitely a product of its time lol

it's definitely your typical middle school fiction. young girl gets bullied by classmates, parents are divorced, she discovers she's special and makes other special friends. the prose is cut short and dry. the writing itself is nothing interesting, but i do love the character art! there's a lot of it, sort of like a graphic novel?

i read this as a child and while i don't think it'll hold up for adults, it did impact me greatly so i want to revisit it

i just learned there's a book 5 being written and i i was NOT prepared to go into an ongoing series. if i don’t see more plot/action in this book, i will not be picking up book 5 when it releases

why is this series 90% dialogue and 10% plot

ALSO im wondering if there will be an enemies to lovers with huda and kamran? look, i only wanna see 2 outcomes for kamran - dead or with huda. he doesn't need a redemption arc or to be with alizeh

we're on book 3 and i'm still wondering if there will be a side plot with a drought? if jinn need water to live, and the kingdom is running out of water, it's only a matter of time. but there's only one book left so idk how that plot would be introduced and resolved within the next 2 books, if it happens at all. it would be a waste not to include it tho

interesting that both this series and the crowns of nyaxia series has a male lead with magical glowing marks like lighting strikes that only go up one half of his body and render one eye a bright glowing color

kamran is lowkey annoying but he is a soon-to-be king so i suppose he has to be. one moment he wants to pin a crime on azileh, the next to absolve her. he's not very bright or level-headed lol

this book is so boring. it has a plot, and yet NOTHING interesting happens

OH MY GOD CAN WE USE ANY OTHER CONJUNCTION you should not be starting every 3rd sentence with "but" for dramatic effect jfc

it really defeats the purpose of building tension and suspense when you bring the two characters back together within the first few chapters. what am i supposed to root for now?

this is a total mindfuck. i'm enjoying it but also wishing there was more?
