I see why people say not to start with the first book of Discworld. It's very fun and extremely funny, but the vibes are Very Different. Vetinari is a damn near different character and far less intimidating. And you can tell that the world building is still getting built. Nice to be back at the Disc tho

While that ending was very predictable, I am not a person that dislikes a predictable ending. In fact, when done well, I think having something be predictable is Better than doing a completely out of left field twist in the eleventh hour. It was sweet and fun and easy to read. I loved the characters, esp the bond between alderic and Lyssa, and the world building was super interesting

There is No Fucking Way that man is not a faerie. "Things last longer than people", old money rich, "I study human habits" ass dude is Not Human, id bet my left kidney on that. And lyssa is absolutely missing it but in her defense, she just thinks he's a rich weirdo. Oh Also! He healed a broken nose within a couple hours! He's not human!

Really liking the MC, I'm a sucker for a living weapon. I went into this thinking it would be a romance between lyssa and al, but found out that it doesn't and frankly? Hell yeah. I'm really liking their dynamic. When he admired her knife while she was threatening him? Incredible

Whoops, I wasn't planning on shotgunning that all in one sitting. But man, Murderbot is just So Good. It's swearing more, speaking its mind, and even getting used to being looked at. Art and mb are the Friends of all time. I can't Wait until I get to network effect again

So in a running tally, we've got child death, parent death, and parent abandonment of a child. Kallik is making her way north and Toklo is figuring things out, but Lusa is still at the zoo so I'm wondering why/how she leaves. Also when the magic bear shows up, which should be soon if I'm remembering correctly

Got a lot more fun when it stopped describing the women with food adjectives. Tho I was sad that all the cool ladies kept getting hurt or sidelined. Murphy got one scene and that's It. Wasn't expecting the ghost cannibalism, that was fun. And damn Harry goes Through It. Love watching that man get the shit kicked out of him

the 'written by a straight man in 2001' is really dripping off this one, more than the others for some reason. maybe because murphy is a much less prominent character? any way, its just making it a more difficult read. i am excited to mean thomas tho, i think i know who he's going to end up being. and im very curious to see how the business with the godmother plays out

That was very fun to reread with the context of both the rest of the series and the TV show. I could really see where the tv show runners decided to expand things (mb memory wipe, more interactions with greycris) and of course the hints to the larger story were fantastic. Plus every time mb glossed over something, all I thought was "man, universes most unreliable narrator"

Wow, okay, I remembered that these things were dark but parent death And child death in the first 100 pages is Dark. I actually am enjoying the voices of the characters too. They're young but they're supposed to be and I think the distress and feeling come across really well. Also the worldbuilding is genuinely unique

Should I be rereading a series that I loved while I was in literal middle school? Probably not. Am I doing it anyway out of curiosity and a deep seated desire to not think about my impending boards for ten damn minutes? Yes
(Will I also reread the Warrior cats series? Probably. Should I? Absolutely not.)

still a bit confused on michael and his whole deal and why the book is talking about him like we already knew him, but im rolling with it. Murphy my beloved just showed up finally and I love her. interesting plot happenings have started happening

Alright a few chapters in and I'm fairly sure michael is a new character to the series and im Not supposed to know him. Theres been a lot more expansive worldbuilding this time around, esp with how early in the book we are, which im really enjoying, but Man is this a fantasy written by a man in the early 2000s. Not every woman needs to be attractive and if someones skin is described as 'creamy' again, im gonna puke

I don't know if I should know Michael and forgot about him or if the In Media Res start is gonna back up and explain who he is. Loving the actiony start
