Overall very good. Probably my favorite so far, barring the first one. The pace was nice and quick and I'm finally used to the style

Man that's some cool worldbuilding of the various central/southern African dragons. I'm glad Mrs. Erasmus stayed behind tho, she and her family deserved to be as safe as possible

These books definitely do take me longer to read but I kinda like that. Makes me think about every word

Loving that Temeraire is all for Laurence being the new face of the abolitionist movement while Laurence is silently dying in the background. Temeraire just wants his captain to get the recognition he deserves while Laurence is Begging to not be put in the limelight

Ive been wanting some cool dragons lately and this is the perfect balm. I kinda forgot the writing style but it wasn't too hard to get back into. Still love Laurence and Temeraire and I'm very excited to see more of Izkierka

Very cute so far. I'm enjoying the mildly sinister worldbuilding of Christmas Town as well as Sally characterization of someone desperate to belong. Glad that they didn't just make her Love Christmas right off the bat and not care about her home anymore. Recently Jack came back into the story and I'm enjoying their dynamic. The author writes him as kinda a charismatic weirdo, which I enjoy, and I like their dynamic

Well, that was absolutely delightful. Fun and fast paced with good characters, both main and side. I really liked Stephen and his guilt (I wonder if T.K. is Catholic) and Grace and her trauma and how they fit together. Super refreshing to have two adults being adults about a relationship and how their lives aren't going to get turned upside down for one another, but they can shift. Looking forward to more

Ohhh I really like berserker Stephen. Feeling very vindicated on the 'he would never hurt her, not even when blinded by bloodlust ' front. Also it's extremely cute

DuValier was the one that stole Graces recipe notebooks. Not sure whats going on with the severed heads and assassination attempt tho. Maybe it's the hanged mothers people trying to stir up trouble?
Anyway, I think it's so funny that Grace has no belief of Stephen, the Berserker Paladin with a Dead God, is dangerous

Oh my god, this really is idiot4idiot. Both of these dumbasses keep thinking "oh they wouldn't want Me, I'm just an [insert self deprecating term] and they're an [insert admirable adjective]" meanwhile the other person's literally drooling
Also enjoying the worldbuilding of the different gods and saints and how the churches work

Wow, this is easy to read. Well paced, fast, and funny with compelling characters who have very distinct narrative voices. I really like Stephen and Graces dynamic of idiot4idiot and I'm enjoying the deeper plot that has begun banging on this romances door. Looking forward to seeing that berserker gun get fired

Oh my god I also just realized/maybe found out? I'm not sure if I knew this prior, but the main character is in his late 30s! God I didn't know how much I appreciated an mc who's a full goddamn adult

New, hopefully much more compelling, romantic fantasy. The first chapter is already very interesting, had me hooked. Looking forward to more

Fuck it. I'm so desperately bored, I'm dnfing. I don't care what happens to any of these characters, I don't care about the romance, and I don't even care about the dragons which are only worldbuilt enough that I can say that they're classified by color and tail shape. I was trying to get to the point where she meets her dragons but I just can't

I am getting deeply bored with this. The worldbuilding is basic and clunky at best (somebody In Universe had to explain what a gauntlet is). The side characters are minimally developed to the point that I can barely say a single thing about them as a character. And I still have so many questions about why these recruits are allowed to kill each other when they're literally desperate for troops

Apparently ChristmasTown is a surveillance state. Who knew?

Hang on, I thought he was your wing leader. Like, he's your highest direct superior. Does that mean that superiors can kill their own recruits? That seems Really ineffectual. And a good way to get a lot of deserters when they think their leaders have it out for them
Sidenote, why are there not more deserters?

So far, entertaining but not engaging. The writing style is very modern for a fantasy setting and the worldbuilding is clunky at best, unfinished at worst
Some questions
1. Why are they letting these cadets kill each other when they're desperate for troops
2. Why are rebel children in positions of power
3. Why are the only viable jobs apparently rider or scribe
I mostly just want to get to the dragons. Forging on

God the massive rapid tone shifts of this book still hit so hard. One moment, Carl's making a crab jack off and the next he's GETTING POSSESSED AND EATING LI JUNS EYE. Also the scavengers daughter/his big back patch being absolutely connected with Scolopendra worries me. But hey! Everybody got out! And they're gonna kill some bitches!
