I had to take a break after reading chapter 7 of Elegy for Left Hand Alone, truly some of the most harrowing but hopeful stuff I've ever read. And then it got back to focusing on the treachery of images and media and via negativa and secrets and waste and assassinations. Yay!!! I love this book so much =3

Fucking beautiful (so far). Every bit of Delillo I read gives me such relief that somebody could put That Thing into words. Makes me feel like a beautiful shard of ceramic in a somehow even more beautiful mosaic. Teared up at "I'm Bobby Thomson! I'm Bobby Thomson!". I gotta watch more baseball man.

i'm teetering on the edge of dropping this one... love the subject but it just ZOOMS through so much history that i can't properly sink my teeth into anything. also the prose is bland and does nothing for me. i also just read the intro to emily wilson's odyssey translation and was knocked off course by how much i love greek theatre. might have to eat some lotuses and come back to this one in 7 years.

poor, poor lee/oswaldovich/hidell. trapped by a history being constructed by men in small rooms (with his collaboration). destined for the cell - to be a man in a small room himself. "in atsugi" made me cry while describing the spread of a puddle of piss. impressive in a book full of impressive feats.
