Someone was dying in the middle of the street. The main character was gonna hop in the car and chase down the car that injured the dying man. But the police told him no because they were gonna take care of it, they told the man to stay with the injured man.

In the introduction of the book before you start the book. There is a lady that is getting chased by a killer, and she is going through agony to try and escape. But sadly she doesn't make it. She almost escapes but the killer finds her and it ends there with her saying, "this is how it ends".
