P.O.V: In The Fort, the point of view varies from different people every chapter. It is in first person. Every chapter, the P.O.V changes from C.J to Evan to Mitchell to Ricky and then to Jason. According to the text, it states "Get over here you guys!" Evan calls. "He's found something!" I've completely lost my count, so I have no idea if this is good luck or bad." This shows that it uses "I" in the text as P.O.V.

SETTING: In the fifth book of FunJungle, Lion Down, the setting is mostly FunJungle and Licoln Stone's house all the way up to page 37, where I am at.

Making connections: In the book Walking Wounded (Vietnam #5), one of the characters flew a fighter jet in the war. I can connect to that because my grandfather flew a F-1 fighter jet in World War II. The character in the books name is Beck, and he has not died yet in the book, and my grandfather didn't die either in World War II, so that is a text to self (kind of) from the book to real life.

I have read Sunny by Jason Reynolds, Hoot by Carl Hiaasen, Squirm by Carl Hiaasen, and I am currently reading Tyrannosaurus Wrecks by Stuart Gibbs. In Tyrannosaurus Wrecks, I am on page 108. I started Sunny on 2/25/26, and finished it on 3/5/26. I started Hoot on 3/9/26 and finished it on 3/13/26. I started Squirm on 3/16/26 and finished it on 3/20/26. I started Tyrannosaurus Wrecks on 3/23/26 and have not completed.

INCITING INCIDENT: The inciting incident in Restart is when Chase Ambrose falls off his roof and gets amnesia. This impacts his entire life because before his amnesia, he was a bad kid and bullied a lot of people. After he got amnesia, he forgot that he was a bad kid and became a new and better person. His best friends, Aaron and Bear, are sad because the old Chase went away and a new, nicer one has taken his place.

ARCHETYPES: In the second book of the Hunger Games, the archetype is overcoming the monster. Overcoming the monster is one of them because the "monster" in this book is the Capitol of all of the districts because they destroyed some of the districts. They did this because some of the districts, like District 3 and 8, are rebelling against the Capitol because they didn't like the Capitols' rules for the Hunger Games.

SUMMARY: Katniss Everdeen is the main character. The story is about 12 districts who have a boy and a girl every year to compete in the hunger games, which is a fight to the death. It takes place in Panem, which is futuristic North America in ruins. The games happen in the mid 21st century. They happen because the capitol reminds the other districts that they are the strongest. It is a chronological narrative story.

VISUALIZE: The part where Nicholas was ordering his soldiers to kill and make people beg for mercy felt real. On page 79, the text says, "In cities all across Russia, police arrested anyone suspected of crimes against the tsar... police routinely rounded up workers' children and beat them up... these soldiers killed citizens at random... left people wounded, homeless, and starving." This lays out the scene for me.

Connection: A text to text between this book and Guts and Glory. They are both about times of war and people that have made America better. In the Liberty Boys of '76, Dick Slater walks into a British army camp, saying his name is Sam Sly. He starts listening to British soldiers talk, trying to gather information about what the British army was doing. In Guts and Glory, many people are like Dick Slater.

CHARACTERIZATION: Addison thinks in a positive and optimistic way about mostly everything. For example, when Addison and his friends got cornered outside of a temple, ' "Addison Cooke," he said, offering his business card. "Pleasure to meet you. I admire a man of talent." ' (Stokes 121). This shows that Addison Cooke thinks in an optimistic way about mostly everything, and doesn't let other people be mean to him.

ANTAGONIST: In Diary of a Wimpy Kid, one of the antagonists is Manny, Greg's little brother. He is one of the antagonists because in the morning, Greg makes Manny's breakfast. Manny only eats some of the breakfast and dumps it out. He also embarrasses Greg when he is speaking to Greg. Manny calls Greg "Bubby" because when he was very little, he couldn't pronounce "brother" correctly, so that started the name calling.

DYNAMIC CHARACTER: Claire is a dynamic character because she is realizing that there are other types of people and that they aren't the only civilization out there. She was a Birthmother, and she gave birth to a baby boy. After that she was forced to change jobs to Fish Hatchery. When she went to the nursing area, the baby boy was only calmed by her and no one else. This shows that she finds out that she has changed.

CONFLICT: Kira has had conflicts with other people, and it is character vs. character in the book. Kira has a conflict with Vandara, another woman in the community. They have a conflict because Vandara wants to pen her tykes (kids) in Kira's land that her mother used to own before she died, and Kira doesn't want that. Then, they go to the Council of Guardians, and they solve it for them.
