ARCHETYPES-

This book's archetype is overcoming the monster. This is because the protagonists Overcome many things that are a result of climate change. For example, Owen and George escape the bear and get his sent to polar bear prison, Natalie survives a hurricane, and Akira survives a wildfire. All the protagonists go somewhere to talk about how climate change is bad, their experiences with it, and how to fix it.

SUMMARY-

This book is a book about climate change and people around the world's problems. In one chapter there is Akira who is in Sierra Nevada, California during a wild fire. In another chapter there is George And Owen who are in Manitoba, Canada being chased by a polar bear. And lastly, there is Natalie in Miami, Florida who is in the middle of a hurricane.

VISUALIZE-

While reading this chapter, I smelled burning wood, felt burning heat around me, and heard fire cackling. This is because the chapter takes place in the middle of a wild fire. In the chapter, Akira and her family are riding through a huge wildfire with burning trees and bushes all around them. These details make me smell burning wood, feel heat all around me, and hear fire cackling.

TEXT TO WORLD

This book relates to the world today because in this chapter Akira's dad does not believe in climate change like many people today. I know this from the sentences, "Her father said that the earth could take care of itself. That this was all part of a natural cycle." These sentences mean that Akira's dad doesn't believe in climate change like many people today.

CHARACTERIZATION-

Akira is a quiet and introverted girl who doesn't have many friends. Her best friend is her horse Dodger who she loves and cares for, I know this from the sentence, "But Akira couldn't leave her horse." This sentence means that Akira loves and cares for her horse.

The antagonist in this chapter is a polar bear. I know this because the polar bear is trying to eat Owen and George and eats all their food and snowmobile. It says in this quote of the story, "The polar bear hadn't seen them slip away from the lake, but that didn't mean he couldn't track them down." This quote means that the polar bear is the antagonist.

Absent work

In this book there is no protagonist because each chapter has a different main character(s). For example, In one chapter the main character is Natalie, in another it's Owen and George, and in another chapter it's Akira and Sue.

A static character in my book is Owen. I know this because it says, "Owen snapped into a fetal position-chin to his chest, arms folded tight over his head, knees tucked all the way up to his stomach-and tried to disappear." This quote shows that Owen is a static character.

The conflict in this book is a huge hurricane going through the city. This is because in the book it says "On the television, Maria Martinez said Hurricane Reuben's wind speeds were being clocked at 165 miles per hour." This sentence means that the conflict of the book is a huge hurricane going through the city.

I predict that while Owen runs from the polar bear, George grabs the shotgun and shoots it. This is because the sentences "But Owen had been so busy clowning around to get George to lighten up that he'd forgotten to grab the Shotgun from the snowmobile." and "Every centimeter of him was screaming at him to run run run run run." These sentences make me think that while Owen runs from the bear, George shoots it.

Two degrees is written in 3rd person limited because it is told by an outside narrator who only knows Akira's thoughts. I know this from the sentence "Yeah, but it seems like there aren't any "little fires" anymore, Akira thought." This quote means that this book is written in 3rd person limited.

SETTING: The book Honey takes place in present day Royal, Indiana. Royal is a suburban area. the characters are mostly in their house or out riding their bikes.

I think this book is realistic fiction. I think this is because It's a made-up story but there are no aliens or fairy-tale characters. It's not a real story but it could happen to someone.

Honey is a really good book so far. I read another book from the author Sarah Weeks called Pie. Both books are wholesome, sad, and exciting. The books are also short and easy to read.
