It was going well until juvenile, non professional , begging to get sanctioned or fired behaviour for a person who purported needs the $ is used as a convincing storyline mechanism. It's the MC a teenager?

Plot revolves around a tiresome, pampered gay man-child and his enabling lesbian friend who has the lusts for his mother .

30% in and for no compelling reason Broke kisses Jen.
All the talk earlier about playing the role of devoted gf , all the "Woe is me/I'm poor" past and she's actively seeking to destroy her chance at a new job opportunity and blowing up the purpose of the trip.

19% in and it looks dangerously like lust will drive this relationship...

I was breezing happily along, listening to this book when I realized it wasn't just purely fictional.
Now, I'm wondering how much of this is a true recounting and how much isn't!

Dumb and dumber, but made in a romcom.

Light brain disengaging read, requires suspension of all the manipulation by the MMC to keep it funny.
I can't believe the author dared to write in comparisons to Casablanca with this written for film adaptation book but kudos for doubling down.

I'd thought only her older stories were weaker and she'd become a better writer with FTC.

This is some inspired writing by Gail Honeyman and the narration by Cathleen McCarron is truly next level.

What a great story and fantastic narration ..15% more to go , anticipating eagerly.

My first Karin Kallmaker book and it's a stunner.


I can't believe this was written 30 odd years ago.
The start looked like a train wreck and I'd trouble with the 29yo FMC who acted anything but.

But the messiness, the development of the FMC was tremendous. Incredible story and I can't wait to see what the last 1/4 of the book holds.
Narration by Angela Dawe is magnificent, as usual.

Messy, complicated and so Sapphic!

Completely dependent and immature over self important 29yo Rayanne but being saved and dependent and still needing someone's mercy, not her ex, not her mother., now Louisa .
Will she mature at any time soon?

29 year old stupid , super reliant, zero prospects immature child.
Dreaming of Bette Davis.
I would be interested to see if she matures any and grow up.
