There's only so much assholery you can take from a MC and her selfish, trailer trash , alcoholic , adult-avoidant behaviour at 75% into the book (1/2 way into the bonfire chapter) has pretty much crossed it. There's zero empathy and really she didn't deserve to be saved at this stage, she isn't unique , at all, in actively choosing to fail.
It's going to be a hard sell how the author writes her out of this
