The horror and gothic atmosphere are really good, but, just like in DLTFI, I can’t help but wish this was historical. It’d fit so well into, I dunno, the 19th century, and instead I keep getting jumpscared by modern things.

It’s exactly what I wanted The Secret Garden to be... but the purple prose is trying too hard. Weird, cause I liked the way DLTFI was written.
