First Maggie O'Farrell, and first impressions? Her writing style is very wordy, sometimes feeling maybe a bit unnecessary, but I cannot deny the vivid imagery, or the great story currently unfolding. No regrets so far

Idk, I'm kind of just finding this one alright so far, maybe when we get in the arena it'll be better. It just feels a bit unnecessary, though it does expand Beetee's and Plutarch's characters well

Dude I was expecting Louella to have a sad death in the arena but she gets eliminated on the chariot ride? It's sad...but the chariot ride? it's almost funny

Haymitch was always a great character for me, so seeing the Quarter Quell for him is definitely gonna be interesting as hell. So far so good

but also, Snow's desire to control by getting rid of things he cannot control, it all really blossoms here, with the mockingjays and Sejanus. The moments between Lucy and Snow are nice, but there's that small tension. It's all amazing, this is easily my favorite novel out of all the hunger games so far

The way the Hunger games is happening is so slow and while the Games in Katniss' point of view really showed how dreadful it all was, Snow's perspective in a post war Panem really does highlight the confusion as to why they are doing this and the pointlessness of it all, despite it showcasing control.

Peeta being back just to call Katniss a mutt is horrible, and Finnick's depression was really sad, at least until he got back with Annie. It's all just building up. It's definitely the weakest of the 3, but it's definitely still entertaining

This one is really giving the first one a run for its money, seeing all the victors and their interactions and their shared anger is so amazing to me. Really does continue this focused view on what the Hunger Games should be
