Dude Cal's character is so fucking interesting, seeing the battle between good and evil with him, seeing this generation reenact Cain and Abel once again, I think Cal will do something that gets Abel killed (either by his own hands or something else). after all, i remember Samuel saying that Aaron never got into the Promised Land. But Cal praying to be good got me sad

the whole thou mayest thing really moved me, I might display that quote instead of the one on page 133. These chapters (23-24) have just been so moving man. Honestly this could be my favorite book oat, beating out Of Mice and Men (another John Steinbeck classic lol)

It's such a compelling book, as it really does not shy away from anything. Translated books will never give us the true scope on what the novel wants usnto understand, but some things just end up translating perfectly: example being the cynicism and utter detachment in this book
