Man I forgot how depressing the whole book is.

I read this in like 6th grade. It's definitely time for a reread, and yeah, like I said, forgot how depressing it all is

Doc is just the goat of the town, and Mack is a smooth talker.

I don't know what it is about this novel, but I can't put it down. Like, it's a good stoty, but the constant tangents do throw me off a bit. Yet, it's still such an interesting novel. Must be his writing at play

Hardly did any reading, but I at least wanted to just start it today, been a while since I've read Steinbeck

And seeing Lee's name, for a moment I thought this was the Lee from East of Eden

What a fucking sellout, and to drny any involvement too.

The chapter with the priest was harrowinf, but getting to that third part, with the repercussions of the past, has me glued to this book. This is easily the most locked in i've been with this book. It's all so depressing

Still really liking it a lot, but I'm finding myself reading nonfiction books so much slower than a fiction novel. Maybe it's because these are real events and I'm digesting it slower, who knows. I'm more just annoyed at how slowly I'm reading this, even if I am enjoying it a lot

Man the way they introduced Kitson throughout that whole chapter, this mf really was the antagonist.

Again, it eas a lot of facts, but it didn't feel like that at all, felt like a cool introduction you would read in a game wiki or smth. idk

I'm reading this for 2 reasons: I'm travelling ti Ireland in June, and I want to reas more nonfiction, but not the boring kind, but ones that feel like stories.

And let me say, the way he captures such a harrowing moment into a story is amazing. Can't wait to read more

Dude Chapter 31 was so fucking beautiful, one of the best chapters I've read ever.

So much new things, Colonel Sanders is a pimp, Kafka having sex with his potential mom and lover, philosophy during sex, weird stones, and now they're both getting hunted by police. Shit is so peak

man his dad really did prefire the Oedipus Rex story didn't he.

I'm praising this book too much; all my updates will just be me glazing, but I just love how crazy the story is and yet you can follow it, and it's not overwhelming and creates this beautiful haze that takes you into its world when you read it

I'm crying his dad really did just say some shit like: yeah you're going to follow the prophecy of Oedipus Rex

I love this book, it's so weird and hazy and I'm just enthralled by it. The fact that Nakata murdered Kafka's dad, I ended up realizing it when they were talking about the article and I did a double take. Also those poor cats wtf

Dude the letter about the teacher who lied about some of the incident made me lock in so quickly.

I'm just very captivated by this book, and while I'm not tired, I will stop reading because I should fix my schedule to some extent

Really amazing, but the handjob part while she asked about his sister caught me so off guard. Lowkey read that part with a confused face the whole time

the shift to focusing on Dick and Nicole is definitely more interesting for me, as I am actually more engaged in this now. It's all a bit tragic

The only reason why I put down the book was because i so very tired, but once we went into the past, I was hooked.

Learning Nicole has schizophrenia, and that she was sexually abused by her father, really does make Dick look like a dirtbag for cheating on her, but I'm assuming that he's sort of 'trapped' in the relationship with Nicole now because of her mental illness

Maybe Great Gatsby raised my expectations too high

it sort of feels like just stuff happening. it's not at all bad, but i'm still just a tad disappointed. I imagine it'll pick up
