This is the kind of book that would be excellent adapted to television. It's not overly descriptive in language, but it takes great pains to depict every small detail: to paint the perfect picture in the reader's eye, no matter how many words it takes to do so. Much like other classics, it needs a long uninterrupted weekend afternoon to fully enjoy it.

Unless something goes drastically wrong with the book somewhere in the future, this is truly the best thing I've read this year.
