Doing a re-read but listening on audiobook this time 🤍

This started off as a really great read into the “doppelgänger” effect that arises from having an online identity and I genuinely am interested in the deep dive into right-wing conspiracy theories. However, I feel like the author has beaten the doppelgänger horse to death and I can’t imagine what else is left to say so not sure if I’ll finish this.

Every night I look at my nightstand and between this book and my iPad and every night this week I have chosen my iPad

This one is only available on audiobook right now so I’m going to try giving it a listen.

I have literally 2 chapters left in this book but I just haven’t felt the urge to pick it up and finish it. Elon Musk is an interesting guy but his current behavior is so atrocious I don’t even care about his impressive past. Whatever

This is an excellent account of the way social media influenced major world events - animalistic human impulses amplified with every “like” and “share” to dire consequences.

Some of the situations this book describes are so vile I’m forced to put the book down because I can’t stomach it, so I haven’t finished it quite yet.

I truly can’t tell if I like this book. I’m not unfamiliar with the concept of an i likable protagonist, but this particular main character is just *so* unlikeable. There’s definitely something darkly witty about the psychiatrist character who keeps prescribing endless amounts of drugs to numb the main character, but as I’m over halfway through the book at this point, it feels like it’s simply dragging on.

I’m beginning a re-read of perhaps my favorite Harry Potter book. I find this book extraordinarily comforting even in the bleakest of times.
