The heroine's family is disgusting. And if her grandmother is so great, why would she let anyone treat her granddaughter like that?? Even the hero's response is kind of ridiculous. Why doesn't he say anything?

It's official. Charlotte is horrible. I barely tolerated her before the "misunderstanding," now she's just disgustingly intolerable.

The narration is awful.
But the story is just as sucky.

To be fair, I'm listening to the audiobook... But this narrator is so bad. The male lead's voice is so robotic, I seriously thought it was a text-to-speech generated voice for the first chapter.

It was not.

Now, I'm not sure if the story sucks, or if it's just the narration making the story suck.

How absolutely absurd is it that a woman who has been suffering sexual abuse for the last 6 years is so attracted and turned on that she absolutely needs to have sex with the MC immediately? Like, wth?

Why is it when any female character has her own business, it's always a bakery? I'm so sick of it always being a godd@mn bakery! Are women not allowed to be good at anything that's not essentially "women's" work? And be so good at it, they can make it into a thriving business? Are there no female architects? Lawyers? Dentists? Accountants? ANYTHING that isn't just fancy cooking, party planning, or home decorating?

Female MC is described as "confident," but is seriously the most annoying doormat when it comes to her husband (to which she's been separated for three years).

By the 60% mark, I just wanted the book to end already. From this point on, the story just dragged.

If he's so tormented by his actions, why did he do what he did? It feels inauthentic.

I don't get it...

HE asked to use HER to win a bet.
HE didn't tell HER what the prize would be.
She agreed.

SHE agreed to being USED.
In exchange, she asked to USE him at a later date.
HE agreed.

THEN...

He finds out WHAT she was using him for and he feels betrayed.

I don't get it!

He KNEW she wanted something... He AGREED to it before their first date. So where the heck is the betrayal?!!!

Make it make sense!

Talk about having a chip on your shoulder. This heroine missed the mark of "independent woman* and went straight to pain in the ass. Not everything has to be a damn argument. I mean, defensive, much?

Also, her churlish and childish behavior was so off-putting. A grown woman stomping her foot and saying things like, "you got us in trouble," does not give credibility to her role as a successful businesswoman.
