So far I am really appreciating Kathy’s writing—it’s very descriptive and poetic. I appreciate the perfect mix between describing not only the decay of the body, but also the beauty in the world that Temperance is very aware of. It allows the reader to maintain interest and intrigue without just feeling grossed out and sad due to the more gory details of the story.

I have a deep appreciation for the heavy focus on the moral implications of the atrocities that were committed during the War. The emphasis on the concept of forgiveness and the struggles faced by Jewish people in granting forgiveness to those who hurt them spoke to me as someone who is also religious and struggles with these concepts myself.

I’m really enjoying the shorter length of the chapters, as it keeps the reader engaged, as well as the variation in timelines and narrators by chapter.
