Crying crying crying 😭 I love this series so much

Dear Lord this book is bad. Too much plot, the dialogue is cringe, the author’s voice acting is terrible, and there are so many places this could end and it just keeps going. And now we get a third act breakup inspired by a woman with a vendetta going after a low level security staffer…why? These people all suck.

I don’t know why the author decided to read the book himself rather than hire a voice actor, but it was a big mistake. And that letter from his dead dad was the most blatant plot service I’ve ever read

Arlo has already met Ava and Levi together, which the author seems to have forgotten. There was a whole scene in the craft store that we are apparently doing over? Poor writing.

“Then he dries me, dresses me, and feeds me.” What???

“Don’t treat me like I’m fragile because of this” MFer, you completely stopped eating, drinking, attending classes and were HOSPITALIZED due to “this.” You’re more fragile than spun glass.

The way Egon is reacting to the breakup of a relationship that’s weeks old makes me think this book should be called Obsession instead of Shiver. I didn’t react this extremely when my parents died.

This third act breakup is the stupidest one I’ve ever read.

This string phone story is definitely the weakest one so far. Who talks to their kid on a string phone while committing murder in the house next door? How could he possibly keep the string tight and not touching a door or window frame while moving around?

Okay, this is the stupidest reason for a third act breakup I’ve seen in a while.

The author forgot that Em had been talking to H in class before Benny covered the class when Em got sick. H met Em first. They need to come clean now.

This book is so delightful. Who’d have thought a romance between Hades and a mortal could be so sweet and emotionally resonant? So glad the author didn’t lean in to all the darker tropes.

So he can pound your ass and that’s fine but calling you baby is gay? Also, get over yourselves. Acting like being gay is the worst thing ever is really shitty.

Why oh why do I keep trying dark “romance”? It’s almost always 🍇 fantasy erotica and not remotely romantic. This is no different. How many times is this professor gonna 🍇 his student with no consequences? And don’t give me the “but he really secretly wants it” because that’s not how consent works.

This is either gen AI or the author doesn’t understand basic economics. If the club is providing income for two people—income that pays the bills and mortgage for both of them—and one of them fucks off, the same club is still producing the same amount of money but is going to one person instead of two. Why is he suddenly unable to pay his bills???

The first half was delightful with Cade basically kidnapping himself to spend time with Ansel. Every time he helped Ansel by hopping in the trunk or suggesting better ways to tie his hands it gave me a laugh. Now it’s just a slog of back-to-back graphic sex scenes. 🫤

Damn but Wyatt is such an unlikable character. He’s been given money, support, medical care for his brother, and his response is to flounce around harrumphing and pouting to the man who gave him all of that. This book reads like it was written by teenagers.

Wyatt is such a whiny little bitch. He’s been given everything he and his brother needs and responds by sulking and pulling petty pranks like a child.

It really, really bothers me that Emery is well aware that Luca’s parents were not present for him, leaving him to raise himself and his siblings, then once they’re married treats him the same way. Distant, rarely available, not givi bf him what he needed.

“Why did he ever love me in the first place?” Excellent question. You’re a terrible partner.

Jfc. Emory is incredibly unlikeable. “What if the man who put up with being ignored for three years and yet somehow I can’t live without thinks I’m too muck work?
