THERE'S LESBIAN REP IN THIS BOOK LET'S GO???

revisiting the first book i truly fell in love with <3

So this book tackles culture, education, isolation, freedom, growing up, war, friendship, family, homosexuality, writing, death, and SO MUCH MORE.

Mind you, these are only the most GENERALIZED topics this book handles that I could name. There's so much more beneath the surface; family members distancing and exiling one another, being "born too late," feeling invisible to the world, etc.

WOWOWOW the exchange between them to end the chapter is so good

okay, so here's my two biggest problems with this book so far:

1) This book expects me to believe that Liz survived over a year in the bookstore after The Storm, yet has repeatedly—through her actions, decision-making, and personality—proven that she clearly should not have.

2) The sense of time in this book (hours, days, years) feels completely misconceptualized.

Once again, she's protecting me. Once again, I'm useless

this book is supposed to have a "strong female lead," but Jessa does next to NOTHING, and when she's in immediate danger, she just ends up getting saved by a guy... a guy that she swoons over like she's dimwitted and refers to as her "black clark kent"
