also the writing feels a bit... confusing... like i'm either not getting a clear picture painted at all, or the scene's very much telling-not-showing. so idk what to make of it now. hoping the story draws me in.

oh em f'ing gee HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Adrian. i have no words other than the fact that i am DEVOURING this book in its whole. we get a confession HALF WAY THROUGH THE BOOKKKKK and i think this has made me discovered my love for slow burn. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!

HELLOOO?? THIS IS GETTING SO GOOD! from the characters to the chemistry to the banter to the writing... PHEWW. and the "innocent" dirty talk during the swim lesson... i normally would have found scenes like this absolutely garbage and cringe but this was written SO EXTREMELY WELL, just WOW. i actually liked it and am giggling my head off omg. this feels like a five star read and i'm expecting it to keep up.

i am LOVING this so far, especially the writing! it seems perfect for my level, not too wordy, but not too dull. super invested in this so far and i'm really curious as to how this incident plays out, and what Adrian had to do with it. the disclaimer said that he's genuinely messed up soooo... who knows?

the spice in the epilogue gave me SUCHHHHH an ick. i can’t even put into words how disappointed i am with the ending. like was there even an ending????? so unsatisfactory. and we just jump from one scene to another in time skips. there truly was no real conclusion.

the spicy texts during the matchmaking scene made me cringe SOOOOO bad 😭 that was so unnecessary. i’m starting to really see that the appeal of this book is definitely not for the type of reader i am. or maybe it was for the younger, unhealed version of me.

but, nonetheless i do think Ava and Jaime are a cute couple.

okay so it has gotten better definitely but it’s just annoying how Ava was all “love me choose me fuck me” & throws a fit and all, and then when they actually get to doing it she goes “we shouldn’t be doing this”??? idkk it just irritated me so bad. i'm about ready for this read to be done but still am intrigued on where this goes now.

okay things are definitely a lot more bearable and i'm starting to actually enjoy the book. Ava is still a lil shit and Jaime's still a flat character but i'm liking where the plot is going, and even find myself immersing myself into the book. the chemistry is undeniably there and i love the fluff of it all!

i can’t even count how many times Ava has gone “i’m not gonna change the way i am so suck it up." she’s meant to be some badass woman who does things the way she wants but really it's giving none of that. the fact that it’s not written well doesn’t help either.

and then there’s also ANOTHER discrepancy. earlier Ava is narrated as curvy and now she has a slim body? it’s details like these that get annoying.

already not particularly loving this. the insta-lust is just a bit much for me considering it's literally only the second chapter.

also i’m noticing tiny discrepancies in the storyline: in chapter 1 Ava specifically says Regina hadn’t hated her from the start, unlike Anne, but then in chapter 5 she says she’s has??

idk this overall is giving wattpad. i hope i will love this more as i read on.

FINALLY done and honestly? i enjoyed it more than i thought i would. i am genuinely surprised at how i finished these last couple hundred pages in one sitting.

the spice was very ehhh... more on that in my review. i am SO glad i am done with this book, gonna take a break from Ana Huang for a bit LOL.

hrmm mixed thoughts about this now... i know the time skips were mentioned in the pre-face but i guess this is how i find out that i'm not much a fan of them. i kinda had a hard time picking this book back up these past few days for some reason.

on another note with the FIRSTTT and ONLY spice scene thus far ─ UGHHH they should have done more at least before sending Bridget off to be queen for life!!!

idk if imma like this one tbh... i'm already kinda dragging myself through this read. the whole skipping through time just isn't for me, especially since we go through literal months just within one chapter. it really feels like a skim and makes me think what even is the point of a story. also Rhys' lust is getting on my nerves. i was really hoping for more an ease into the romance than insta-lust.

the whole thing with Alex showing up in london and claiming Ava as his after literally half a year of no-contact is sooo icky to me, especially in the scene with that other dude in the program. i get that it's Alex's whole character with the whole "look at her and i'll kill you" thing but we could have eased in that...

overall i did really enjoy this read though and am excited to continue on in the series!

okay so the rush into the spice was honestly really disappointing like having sex right after getting out the pool was so unnecessary 😭 wish it was more a slower ease into this “relationship” than whatever tf happened.

on a brighter note things are getting INTENSEEE plot wise and i am here for it!!!

i am LOVING this book so far honestly. the writing and pacing is great and so far i am not seeing why this book gets so much hate. this has been very interesting, from the banter to the trope to the depths of the characters. i actually kept wanting to read more!

with these last chapters i found myself wanting nothing more than to be done with the book. it got boring really, and i hate the way things turned out (not with whom Jo ended up with, but rather the process of everything after the scandalous pictures).

are you fucking serious like OF COURSE now that Jo is in a relationship does Ezra finally feel that’s it’s the right time for him to confess the love that’s he’s always had for her. i actually hate this. and this whole thing with Jo ghosting Mal and blaming it on her depression seriously baffles me. how do you not even bother giving an explanation to someone you love???

atp i'm starting to not like where things are going... why the FUCK would Jo give Ezra her new number?? maybe it's because i hate love triangles/anything remotely related to the sort (went into this book with zero knowledge), but i was under the impression this was more a romance between Jo and Mal. now she's doubting shit with him & being sheepish. this last scene GMFU i am SO IRRITATED.

the romance between the MCs is AMAZING and i love the slight yearning and holding back of the MMC. super excited to read on!! loving the pacing too.

okay off to a good start!!!! i am very much entertained by this book, i absolutely love the banter between, well ALL the characters really. as i was entering the hotel situation i felt SOOOOO on edge like i keep anticipating the spice!!! and ended up getting some really deep backstory instead (cute)!!! i think this is a really good stopping point and i'm excited to read on.
