This book is surprisingly graphic

I’m in love with the way this reads like a documentary. I also love how the author describes her thought processes.

Read this back in middle school and I loved it. Now that I’m rereading it, I completely forgot about vickis personal life being told in this. It’s amazing the things people can go through and then come out on the other side okay.

This book is less of a a story and more of a glimpse into what 1800’s marine zoology and sailing was like. I was hoping it would focus on Ismael’s relationship with queequeg more, but maybe it will since I still have 300 more pages to go. I’m getting a little bored

This mf sure does love to yap! I like that Ishmael is thoughtful and open minded to most anything after thinking about it for a second or two.

Possibly the sweetest thing I’ve ever read. Affection between men is a very refreshing thing to see.

Struggling to get through this book

Took me forever to get through the first ‘book’ but I’m glad I took my time with it and made sure I understood everything

I forgot how much fun it is to annotate classics. You start reading something translated from an era of literature you’ve never ventured into before, and as you’re reading, none of it makes sense, but after rereading the same 3 pages a few times, you suddenly understand what’s going on!! It’s just fun to figure things out for yourself.
