maybe i’m just not a secondary source guy, but to me this book is just a non-“compelling” “introduction to” nothing. it reads like a thoughtlessly structured, meandering word-clusterfuck of seemingly random aims, put forth in both some of the most boring and some of the least comprehensible language i’ve read
a classic case of this book is only interesting because of its subject (not its author)
